Assessment Process and Schedule

Core Curriculum Assessment is a recurring, faculty-led process that examines student learning across the university. Each competency moves through planning, data collection, faculty assessment, reporting, and improvement.

How the Process Works

Planning

The assessment committee reviews the outcome, rubric, sampling approach, and communication plan.

Assignment Alignment

Faculty identify a summative assignment that allows students to demonstrate the applicable Core outcome.

Data Collection

Student work and supporting assignment materials are collected from participating Core-designated courses.

Faculty Assessment

Trained faculty assessors apply a shared rubric through a juried and calibrated review process.

Reporting and Improvement

Institutional findings are reported and used to strengthen curriculum, assignments, rubrics, and faculty support.

What the Results Represent

Results describe student learning at the institutional level. They are not used to evaluate individual instructors, courses, departments, or colleges.

Core Assessment Schedule, 2022-2028

The schedule identifies the broad phase assigned to each competency. Exact faculty deadlines will be posted when finalized.
